Pivot Points Pro (v3.40)
Institutional Multi-Model Extended Workspace Pivot Point Suite & Structural Liquidity Engine
1. Summary (Introduction)
Pivot Points Pro (v3.40) is an institutional-grade price-level projection engine that calculates structural support, resistance, and median equilibrium zones across five distinct mathematical modeling paradigms (Classic, Fibonacci, Woodie, Camarilla, and DeMark).
Unlike conventional pivot indicators that clamp levels strictly to past price bars, Pivot Points Pro features Native Extended Workspace Support. Utilizing horizontal ray vectors (OBJ_TREND) and forward-shifted text labels (OBJ_TEXT), the indicator projects active intraday levels directly into the right-hand blank chart workspace (the Chart Shift zone). This provides systematic and discretionary traders with clear, unobstructed visual targets ahead of forming price action.

Key Architectural Highlights
- Zero GDI Overhead on Live Ticks: Through Dual State-Guards, ray lines are re-rendered strictly once per HTF period, and workspace labels are shifted strictly once per chart bar. Live tick GDI overhead is reduced by 100%.
- Time-Window Cached Engine (
PivotPoint_Calculator.mqhv3.20): Bypasses alliBarShiftandiTimequeries if the incoming tick timestamp falls within the active higher-timeframe bar window. - Five Institutional Formulations: Instant runtime switching between Classic Floor Trader, Fibonacci Ratios, Woodie's Close-Weighted, Camarilla Equation, and Tom DeMark's Open/Close Relational models.
- 13 Data Window Buffers: Maintains full backwards compatibility for automated Expert Advisors via
iCustom()while delegating visual chart rendering to the background ray engine (DRAW_NONE). - Heikin Ashi Price Routing: Allows computing structural pivot levels directly from smoothed Heikin Ashi synthetics.
2. Mathematical Foundations & Pivot Models
All models evaluate the high (H), low (L), and close (C) of the completed previous period of timeframe \text{TF} (e.g., H_1, L_1, C_1 of yesterday for Daily Pivots). If Heikin Ashi mode is selected, O, H, L, C are transformed via CHeikinAshi_Calculator prior to evaluation.
Let \text{Range} = H - L.

2.1. Classic (Floor Trader) Pivots
\text{PP} = \frac{H + L + C}{3}
\text{R1} = 2\text{PP} - L, \quad \text{S1} = 2\text{PP} - H
\text{R2} = \text{PP} + \text{Range}, \quad \text{S2} = \text{PP} - \text{Range}
\text{R3} = H + 2(\text{PP} - L), \quad \text{S3} = L - 2(H - \text{PP})
2.2. Fibonacci Pivots
\text{PP} = \frac{H + L + C}{3}
\text{R1} = \text{PP} + 0.382 \cdot \text{Range}, \quad \text{S1} = \text{PP} - 0.382 \cdot \text{Range}
\text{R2} = \text{PP} + 0.618 \cdot \text{Range}, \quad \text{S2} = \text{PP} - 0.618 \cdot \text{Range}
\text{R3} = \text{PP} + 1.000 \cdot \text{Range}, \quad \text{S3} = \text{PP} - 1.000 \cdot \text{Range}
2.3. Woodie's Pivots (Close-Weighted)
Weights the closing print heavier to account for late-session settlement consensus:
\text{PP} = \frac{H + L + 2C}{4}
\text{R1} = 2\text{PP} - L, \quad \text{S1} = 2\text{PP} - H
\text{R2} = \text{PP} + \text{Range}, \quad \text{S2} = \text{PP} - \text{Range}
\text{R3} = H + 2(\text{PP} - L), \quad \text{S3} = L - 2(H - \text{PP})
2.4. Camarilla Equation Pivots (Mean-Reversion & Breakout)
Designed specifically for intraday mean-reversion at S3/R3 and breakout momentum at S4/R4:
\text{PP} = \frac{H + L + C}{3}
\text{R1} = C + \text{Range} \cdot \frac{1.1}{12}, \quad \text{S1} = C - \text{Range} \cdot \frac{1.1}{12}
\text{R2} = C + \text{Range} \cdot \frac{1.1}{6}, \quad \text{S2} = C - \text{Range} \cdot \frac{1.1}{6}
\text{R3} = C + \text{Range} \cdot \frac{1.1}{4}, \quad \text{S3} = C - \text{Range} \cdot \frac{1.1}{4}
2.5. Tom DeMark Pivots (Relational Open/Close Condition)
Projects dynamic conditional ranges based on whether the previous period closed bullish, bearish, or neutral: $$X = \begin{cases} H + 2L + C, & \text{if } C < O ; (\text{Bearish Close}) \ 2H + L + C, & \text{if } C > O ; (\text{Bullish Close}) \ H + L + 2C, & \text{if } C = O ; (\text{Neutral Close}) \end{cases}$$
\text{PP} = \frac{X}{4}, \quad \text{R1} = \frac{X}{2} - L, \quad \text{S1} = \frac{X}{2} - H
(Note: DeMark model defines only R1 and S1; R2, R3, S2, S3 are set to EMPTY_VALUE).
2.6. Median Levels (M_1 \dots M_6)
\text{M1} = \frac{\text{S2} + \text{S3}}{2}, \quad \text{M2} = \frac{\text{S1} + \text{S2}}{2}, \quad \text{M3} = \frac{\text{PP} + \text{S1}}{2}
\text{M4} = \frac{\text{PP} + \text{R1}}{2}, \quad \text{M5} = \frac{\text{R1} + \text{R2}}{2}, \quad \text{M6} = \frac{\text{R2} + \text{R3}}{2}

5.1. Floor Trader Range Reversion (PP \pm S1/R1)
- Premise: On days without strong macroeconomic news catalysts, price oscillates inside the primary central boundary (
S1 \dots R1). - Execution:
- When price tests S1 (
clrFireBrick) during the London/NY open and prints a bullish rejection candle (hammer or Heikin Ashi color flip)\rightarrowEnter Long. Target: Central Pivot Point (PP). - When price tests R1 (
clrDodgerBlue) and prints a bearish rejection\rightarrowEnter Short. Target: Central Pivot Point (PP).
- When price tests S1 (
5.2. Camarilla Equation Strategy (The Dual-Mode Edge)
- Mode A: Range Trading (
S3 \dots R3):- If market opens between S3 and R3, expect mean reversion.
- Buy tests of S3; sell tests of R3. Stop-loss placed strictly outside S4/R4.
- Mode B: Momentum Breakout (
> R4or< S4):- A clean 15-minute close above R4 signals an aggressive institutional volume expansion
\rightarrowEnter Long targeting R5. - A clean close below S4 signals a long-liquidation cascade
\rightarrowEnter Short targeting S5.
- A clean 15-minute close above R4 signals an aggressive institutional volume expansion
