| Ethical trading standards for responsible and fair market conduct |
Ethical Trading
These principles govern all trading activity to ensure responsible, fair, and ethical market conduct.
No Market Manipulation
- Never engage in wash trading (trading with yourself to inflate volume).
- Never layer or spoof orders (placing orders you intend to cancel to move prices).
- Never engage in painting the tape (executing trades to create a misleading appearance of activity).
- Never corner or squeeze a market by accumulating a dominant position to force adverse outcomes on others.
- Never engage in pump-and-dump schemes or coordinated price manipulation.
No Front-Running
- Never trade ahead of a known client order to profit from the expected price impact.
- Never use knowledge of pending block trades to establish positions.
- Never front-run index rebalances beyond what is publicly available information.
- Information about order flow must be kept confidential and not used for proprietary advantage.
No Spoofing
- Every order placed must represent a genuine intent to trade.
- Never place orders designed to mislead other market participants about supply or demand.
- Algorithmic systems must be designed to prevent accidental spoofing patterns.
- Monitor execution algorithms for order-to-fill ratios that could raise regulatory concern.
Fair Dealing
- Treat all counterparties and market participants fairly.
- Disclose all material conflicts of interest.
- Provide accurate and not misleading information about strategy performance and risks.
- Honor all commitments and contractual obligations.
- Charge fair and transparent fees.
Conflict of Interest Management
- Identify and document all potential conflicts of interest.
- Implement controls to prevent conflicts from adversely affecting clients or counterparties.
- Disclose conflicts that cannot be fully mitigated.
- Maintain physical and informational separation between conflicting activities where required.
- Review conflict management procedures at least annually.
Responsible Use of AI in Trading
- AI-generated trading signals and strategies must be reviewed by qualified humans before deployment.
- Document the logic, data sources, and limitations of any AI model used in trading decisions.
- Monitor AI systems for unintended behavior, biases, or market impact.
- Do not deploy AI systems that could amplify systemic risk through correlated behavior with other AI systems.
- Be transparent with stakeholders about the use of AI in trading and risk management processes.
- Ensure AI systems include circuit breakers and human override capabilities.
- Consider the broader market impact of AI-driven strategies, particularly in less liquid markets.
